Will your district be represented in the 2018 Ohio Teacher of the Year program? New route to nomination now available

The Ohio Teacher of the Year program is more than a way to recognize exceptional teachers statewide. It’s also a means of giving teachers a voice, empowering them to take part in critical, decision-marking conversations affecting students, teachers and public education. For the 2018 program, there are more ways than ever before to nominate candidates for the regional selection of State Board District Teachers of the Year. It all starts at the regional level.
As in the past, local public school districts or community schools that have teacher recognition programs may nominate teachers through their selection processes to the territory leads in their regions. Or, in local public school districts or community schools that have no such programs, a teacher, administrator, parent or student may nominate a teacher.

To submit a candidate’s name, see the nomination form and other details available here. Nominees will have until June 5 to complete their applications. The Ohio Department of Education will announce State Board District Teachers of the Year this summer. Then, early next school year, the state superintendent will announce the Ohio Teacher of the Year following his or her selection from the pool of State Board District awardees.
